Background of the Study
In Kano, Hausa language broadcasting is a primary channel for disseminating news, cultural programming, and public information. Recent government language reforms have aimed to promote indigenous language use in media by introducing standardized guidelines for broadcasting in Hausa. These reforms target improvements in linguistic accuracy, consistency, and cultural relevance, intending to boost local content production and enhance viewer engagement. Broadcasters are encouraged to incorporate traditional idioms, proverbs, and culturally significant expressions to resonate with local audiences. However, the transformation of broadcasting practices requires substantial adaptation by media professionals, who must balance modern journalistic standards with traditional language usage.
